I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, and his incomparably great power for us who believe.
Ephesians 1:18-19
My mom is 93 years old, and she has been very aware, as we have, that her energy level continues to diminish as she gets older. I’ve also found, at times, when considering doing something quite energetic, I come to the conclusion that I just don’t have the energy to do it.
When we think of God’s energy and God’s power, it is limitless. Wouldn’t that be wonderful to have!? In reality, we actually can have it and do have it at our disposal. The Apostle Paul tells us in the first chapter of Ephesians that we have His incomparably great power in us who believe and that power is the same power (dynamite power) that raised Christ from the dead. That’s amazing power!
The other amazing thing is that God has chosen us, who have limited energy and power humanly speaking, to accomplish His purposes and achieve His plan. Because He has chosen us as His partners, He wants us…He “needs” us to speak a good word, to sing a song of praise, to proclaim the Gospel, and to pray. He wants us to acknowledge His omnipotence, to trust in His power, and to be wholly obedient.
So let us tap into and use our potential energy—our potential power for God. Do we realize what tremendous power we can unleash by praying?
I often feel very small and unworthy to think of God working through a tiny, insignificant person like me. The fact that He does use us demonstrates that we are His crowning creation and the recipients of His amazing love. With Christ in our heart, let us tackle the job He gave us. Let’s use our potential energy to do our duty, whether it’s small and hidden, or large and open. Let us act as His hands and feet and be the prayer warriors that God intended us to be.
