The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. 2 Corinthians 10:4
In our present time, there is a lot of talk about weapons and guns and having concealed gun permits. Just a few years ago, it would have been preposterous to think about the need to perhaps carry a gun in our schools or even in our churches. But times have changed. In Michigan, they have an open carry policy, but if you are going to carry a concealed weapon, you must have a permit.
Christians have available to them, across State borders (and even country borders) a powerful weapon that, all too often, we conceal all too well. We could call it our “44 Magnum,” and it should always be unconcealed and ready at hand because we have a formidable enemy who relentlessly attacks us – an enemy we cannot ignore. Our weapon? 1 John 4:4: The one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. Our weapon is not a thing, it’s a Person…the Person of Jesus Christ.
It doesn’t matter what the world offers in terms of security, such as firearms, burglar alarms, insurance plans or investment schemes. There is no greater security than a heart that is truly surrendered to our Lord. A manufactured 44 Magnum may be a powerful weapon, but it’s nothing compared to the power of the weapon that is available to a fully surrendered heart. How powerful is it? It has the same strength and power that empowered David to slay Goliath, that enabled Samson to kill a lion, that restored sight to the blind, that cleansed the lepers, that made the lame to walk again. Paul tells us, That power is the same as the mighty strength he(God) exerted when he raised Christ from the dead” Ephesians 1:19.
That’s a lot of power! We need to use the weapons that have divine power every day. Let’s make a conscious effort to go out every morning with an unconcealed weapon. Christ should be evident. Instead of Him being concealed, I trust that He is clearly revealed by my appearance, my speech, my bearing, my behavior, and my peace and joy. I hope it is evident to everyone I meet daily that I am a sincere disciple of the Lord Jesus Christ.
